Very Sore!

I took Sinner out today for a quick 5k before my hubby left early for work. I’d pulled up fine after the weekend, the couple of 8km walks and the nearly 4km run up the farm tracks. My legs felt great. I ran fine, no problems there, did around 37 minutes for 5k so a bit slower, but boy, when I’d finished, my legs just ached. Obviously the walking had taken its toll. I’ve been a bit stiff all day today, and am looking forward to putting my feet up and getting to bed. On a more positive note, my shin feels fine!!

I’ve worked out my next goal. Next year in Warwick, they have a weekend of running in May - 5 events over 2 days. Total distance 42.2km. I want to do the 10km uphill run on the Sunday morning. I’ll need to find a 5k to 10k program, and I’ve been finding that the elliptical trainer is keeping the strength up in my legs without hurting my shin.

So much of running is mental, I reckon. When I head out for a run, I always run away from our estate, because when I turn around and come back, it’s easier. All in the mind, I know, but I use it to my advantage to extend my distance. I just add a little distance on the outward part of my run, so on the way back, I’m cruisin’.
